I came down to the city yesterday because my city baby is sick again. He doesn't even want his grammy this time. I haven't taken any pictures so this one is from last month. I have tried growing these in the country, but haven't had much success. May have to try again.
My interview at the hospital is this afternoon. Then I will probably go home. Have to stop somewhere and look for some shutters. And pick up a few groceries.
Talked to hubby this morning. He said it is raining again. That is very unusual for us in July. As a general rule, we get very little rain in July. Bet I will have to pick beans and zucchini when I get home. Can't wait to work on the homespun quilt!
Here's a couple of shots of my city baby's curly red hair. He is 11 months old now. I took these late yesterday afternoon and was finally able to load them on the computer this afternoon.
I got a few of my flower shots loaded, too. I'll try to post them tomorrow. I need to shut my eyes for a few minutes in case the baby doesn't sleep any better tonight than he did last night. He went to bed at 9:00 and slept fine until 12:30, but then he was awake a lot. He has only slept through the night two or three times since he was born! He doesn't suck his thumb, or take a pacifier, or have a lovey, so he doesn't have any way to calm himself once he wakes up. He woke up at 6:30 this morning and was already asleep for his morning nap by 8:30. The girls are going to summer school, so we still have to get up in the morning. Their windows are on the east side of the house, so they don't have any trouble getting up in the summer. In the winter when it is still dark, they have a hard time.
It's a cool rainy day here in the country. I haven't been outside with my camera yet, but I wanted to share these pictures of my city baby.
Here he is looking to see if there is anything for lunch.
When he's doing something he isn't supposed to be doing, like climbing the stairs, he always looks around to see if anyone is watching.
He had to get a better look! He is 10 months old now, and all boy. He loves to climb. He can walk, but still crawls on all fours most of the time.
These are the only pictures I was able to take of him while I was there. I did sneak out one morning and take the flower pictures while he was sleeping. Click on the flower pictures to see the rain drops, especially on the second one. Don't know why the third one didn't load. It was dark green leaves with rain drops.
I found out on Wednesday that my old job is available again, so I picked up an application. Need to get it filled out. I've really enjoyed being "retired" this year, but it doesn't pay the bills, especially the health insurance. Can't ignore the facts of life!
Enjoy your holiday weekend!
Hi, Everyone! Sorry if I have missed your posts the past few days. My city baby had a virus and needed someone to hold him almost all the time. I got to come home late this afternoon. As soon as I could, I went out with my camera. If you click on any of the pink iris pictures, you can see them better. They are so pretty this year. It was overcast with just a hint of filtered light. I would like to get some shots with early morning light, too.
These blue flowers are blooming, too. Does anyone know what they are? If you blow this one up, there is a tiny bug in the center. I'm going to have to get a flower book! I know I planted a package of wildflower seed last year, and this one came back from seed, although I don't remember it blooming last year. Maybe it is one of the ones that doesn't bloom until the second year. The color looks pretty true on my moniter. It is a luscious blue.
I need to do some more computer work, then get to bed. So much baby holding wore me out!
Sorry I have been away so long! I went to the city last Friday, and if I ever did have a minute to look at the computer, the computer wouldn't work! Very frustrating.
Had a busy weekend. Took the baby to a First Communion for a nephew's daughter. He was good, but it wore me out carrying him around. He has asleep when I got to the school/church, so I left him in his car seat, which he is too big for, and almost impossible to carry, especially with his stuff and mine. By the time I bumped him around getting to the door, he was awake anyway! He did fall asleep again on our way to the nephew's house, and slept while we ate, which was nice.
On Sunday, my daughter needed to sleep, so I took everyone, including the neighbor girl who had spent the night, to Mass, then to Krispy Kreem for doughnuts. Then we took the long way home through a state park that has a population of elk. It was weird to see them out in the woods so close to the city. The girls were more excited about the geese and a couple of ducks they saw on the lake. It was really nice. It felt like we were a million miles away from the city.
I wanted the girls to go outside when we got home, but they wanted to play Wii. Of course they woke up their mom, then went outside. They played for awhile, then I took the three of them, plus three neighbors, plus the baby shopping for flip-flops. Two of the neighbors are older, and were actually a big help. The girls all got sunglasses and sandals, and we got little shoes for the baby. Stopped and picked up supper on the way home. All that running around did me in!
I had planned to come home yesterday morning as soon as the girls left for school, but it was almost 5:00 before I got on the road. Only made a couple of stops, but it was still 8:30 by the time I got home. Too late to start on anything, so I just watched the basketball game.
Wanted to catch up on the computer yesterday morning, but it was raining and thundering, and I was afraid of lightening. The least little bit of lightening will take out my modem in a heartbeat. So I worked on a table runner instead, and got it finished last night. I really like the way it turned out. I have tried three times to get the picture to load, but it just won't do it, so I finally gave up. I'll have to post it later.
I bought some chenille at Wal-Mart on Monday, and tried to use it in a baby lovie last night, but it didn't turn out the way I had hoped. I tried another idea this morning, but I'm not sure about it either. This may require some more thought.
I'm going to try to go out and do some yard work before the next big rain storm tomorrow. I'll try to post some pictures when I come back in.
Here's what the snow cushion in the patio chairs looked like at the end of the day on Tuesday. We had some serious snow! This was taken in St. Louis on Tuesday, March 4th.
Here's my baby on Wednesday. His momma was home so she was holding him. You can really see his pretty red hair and eyelashes.
Need to check my Etsy account, then it off to my sewing room! Happy quilting, everyone!
Finally got out of the city about 4:30 this afternoon. Spent most of the day listing some things my son-in-law had from his last job on eBay. Sold one already, so that's not too bad for one day's work. Had to make a couple of stops on the way home, so only got home about an hour ago. It was cold and cloudy all day today. Glad I didn't have to be outside. The baby was crabby today because he has a bad case of hives. Not sure if it is a virus, or an allergic reaction to something he ate. We have a bad habit of giving him anything we are eating. He loves table food. He would much rather eat what we are eating than eat his baby food. Yesterday he had peanut butter and strawberries along with who knows what. He prefers to drink from a real glass, especially if he can have what I'm drinking. I love to have a cup of green tea in the morning, but it is hard to drink it if I'm holding him, because he keeps reaching for my cup. I did get a really cute picture of him one day this week. I will try to post it tomorrow. I had to get up with him twice last night, so I'm running out of steam. Think I will call it a day. Later!
No snow here this morning. Doesn't hurt my feelings. I'm going back to the country sometime today. I rather not have to drive in the snow. I may have to see if I can get the desktop computer to work so I can post some pictures. I'm going to do some computer work today. The kids were all awake early this morning, including the baby. That gave me time to feed him, and get him wrapped up so we all could walk to the bus stop, including the dog. The wind was picking up by the time we headed for home. If I can't get my pictures loaded, I just have to wait until I get home. I made some plans yesterday to make a wall hanging. I saw a cute pattern in my quilting magazine that looked easy enough for my to pull off. I'll keep you posted.
Took some time last night to look at a lot of site that offer web site design and/or country graphics. My three favorites for country graphics were countryclipart, grandmageorge, and ourhomewithgod. The two best sites I found for web site design were gonecountrygraphics and pccgraphics. I have my domain name registered but haven't started on my web design yet. I'm going to need a lot of help!
I think I'm going to take a look at Americana graphics to see if there is anything there that I like better. There are certainly a lot of resources out there.
The baby is taking his afternoon nap. I may join him for a few minutes. I'm feeling really tired.
Did some web surfing again today. Found a site with a cute rag quilted table runner with appliqued hearts. They also have a rag quilted tote. You can take a look at sewpractical. I also went to their web site. They have some free patterns that can be downloaded to your computer. #28 looked interesting, especially if you are still new to rag quilting. It is a rag quilting basic tutorial with lots of helpful information, including how to figure out how many squares of different sizes you can cut from a yard of fabric. I wanted to download #45, free applique patterns, but it is a big file so I'll wait until later. I'll fill you in later.
My daughter isn't working today, but she has a meeting tonight. I may take a nap. Didn't sleep very well last night. I've been up with the baby for three nights in a row now. Plus last night the 6 year old kept me up until midnight because she didn't feel good, then the 9 year old woke up at 2:00. Thank goodness the baby slept until 3:00! I'm getting too old, or I need my beauty sleep, and or the other!
