This doesn't compare to Darcy's dragonflies, but it is the best insect shot I've ever taken. I wouldn't have seen him if I hadn't been taking pictures because he is exactly the same color as the tiger lilly he is sitting on.
Here's my latest experiment with my photo editing software. Wouldn't this make a really neat fabric design?
Had an almost perfect day in the country today. It was cool all day, and cloudy. The only problem was a little wind. I spent a couple of hours working in my flower bed. I completely dug up one section and replanted it. A couple of the day lillies have bloomed, but right now is a slow time. I didn't get any annuals planted. I did plant some seed, so I will have a few later. Maybe they won't get as ugly in late summer as they usually do since their season will be so much shorter.
I'm going to do some more quilting tomorrow. I have an idea for the last set of Moda fabric that I bought earlier.
After I figured out how to set my camera to take black and white pictures this morning, I had to go out and try it out. I took some good pictures of my daisies, but it was just windy enough that none of them are in focus.
When I stopped to take a picture of these small yellow flowers, I saw the one big ant, but when you blow up the picture, there are lots of them.
I had to go in and work at a wedding dinner at the church hall this evening. They had a big crowd, but it wasn't too bad. They had lots of help.
I am becoming a lot more aware of all the little insects in the world since I started taking pictures of my flowers. I caught this little bee on a daisy this morning. It was a little bit windy so I had a hard time getting things to hold still.
I need to do some more catch up work on the computer, then get busy working on the pillow covers that I started more than a week ago.
I wish you could see this blown up to 8 x 10 or larger. It is perfect! The little bug is just sitting there in just the right place and the one little parachute is just about ready to take off. I love it!
I went outside this morning to take pictures of my one iris that is just opening up, but ended up with pictures of seeds. Strange how that works! This one is my favorite. The next one is the seed pods of a hyacinth.
The detail in this one when it is blown up is fantastic, too. The next one is a pine cone. I like the branch arrangement and angles.
The ambient lighting was perfect this morning. It was overcast enough that there weren't any shadows and bright enough that the colors are perfect.
My hubby's brother came out to go fishing this morning, so I'm going to head down to the lake to get a few pictures. My beans and beets are just starting to come up, so we planted another row of beans. The radishes are looking good.
